The view from the stairs

So the weather the past few days hasn't been real great.  It was chilly yesterday and that wind, I thought it would take me away with it.  I like this home, I don't want to leave here.  It could turn out like Dorothy in that Wizard of Oz, she got swept away and met that nasty witch and all she wanted was to go home.  I'm staying home so I don't have to find my way back here!

With the weather being nasty, we sometimes all hang out on the steps. You probably think that's a dumb place to hang out, but it isn't.  It's the perfect place to hang out.  You can see everything.  If we look towards the way Jaybo is facing we can see out the window in the dining room.  From that window you see part of the driveway and you can even see part of Sycamore Road.  We bark at trucks going by and especially when we see people or people and dogs walking on the street.  We need to do our job and alert our family of imminent danger that could come our way.

If you look the opposite direction you can see part of the kitchen, but you can definitely smell what is brewing, or a better word would be cooking in the kitchen.  If you look forward you can see into the living room, right to the sofa where Mom and Katie often sit.  (Dad's chair is out of view, but if he comes to the kitchen for food, you can just follow him back to his chair in the living room and you can beg for food there.  By the way, this begging will always work.  In another post I can explaining the best begging techniques we use).  Back to our spot on the stairs,  if someone goes upstairs you know it, of if they come downstairs you know it.  So, just as Sheldon has his perfect seat on Big Bang, so to do we have a perfect seat on the steps!

A Nice Day!

My my, it was a nice day out there today wasn't it?  Penny and I enjoyed some time outside just sniffing around and getting some exercise.   There are always great smells in the air.    Do you know sometimes I smell chocolate in the air?  Really I do, I've heard the humans comment on that too, they say it's from a local chocolate factory that is in Pennsburg.  It smells very good. 

Well friends, enjoy the nice weather the next couple of days.  Get some exercise, take your dog for a walk!  They will love you for it and it'll do you good! 

The Ding Dongs

These are Ding and Dong....... well, sometimes the people at the house call them that, other times they call them Sandy and Atilla.  Mom often walks around the house with Atilla on her shoulder, but Sandy hangs out in there cage.  They are so LOUD!  Sometimes they are quiet, other times they don't shut up.  I like at night when they sleep and are quiet. I think the whole family likes that too!  They are pretty.  The cats watch them a lot.  When they are outside the cage, walking around outside the cage, the cats really keep there eyes on them. I guess the cats are very protective of them, or do they think they are lunch?  I'm not sure.  I know I wouldn't want to eat them, they have too many feathers.  The feathers make your nose tickle. 

The Dove named Cinnamon

This is one of the birds that we have at our house. This is the coolest of all the birds. She coos and sounds so neat.  I hear she is a dove.  I know the cats watch her at times, I guess they wonder how she can make the cool noises she makes. I wonder that too!  My goodness, the cats and I have something in common.  That can't be!   Oh well, she is a pretty cool bird and makes cool sounds!   Her name is Cinnamon, I'm told she came from the bird rescue place with that name and the family kept it.  They didn't keep my name!  At the rescue they named me Latte, but when I came to live with this family they named me Leonard. That's an odd name for a dog, but I like it.  The family said it went well with Penny.  My family watches a t.v. show called Big Bang Theory and they said two of the characters are Penny and Leonard, so since they had a Penny, when I came along they changed my name to Leonard.  My name was Blackie when I lived with the other family. I sort of gave it away when mom called "Blackie" a few days after I got to the new house and I looked around at her.  But honestly, I like Leonard better. It's more sophisticated!  Don't you think?

The other cat, Sam

So this is Samantha, or Sam as we call her.  She isn't like the other cat.  Sam doesn't like any of us dogs, she doesn't even like Frankie, the other cat.  She seems to be daddy's girl.  (Me, I'm mommy's boy). 

This cat is unusual, she has 7 toes on one foot and 6 toes on the other foot. (I'd say that's unusual wouldn't you?) She sleeps in the house at night and on bad weather days, but on nice days she goes out when we do our potty run in the morning and she stays out all day.  I wonder what she does or where she hangs out at?  Have you seen her around??  Mom says she'd like to put a camera on her to see where so goes and what she does all day.  I'd be curious to see that too!  I mean what can you do?  Where can you sleep outside during the day that would be a totally safe place to hang out??

My sister, Frankie

This is our sister, Frankie.  She's a cat.  Mom had her at the vet tonight.  Frankie has some kind of unknown allergy and she gets all itchy and constantly grooms herself until her skill looks bad.  So mom took her to the vet for a shot and mom says in a day or two Frankie will be better.  Poor cat, I know how much I hate going to the vet and she goes every couple of months for a shot for this itching.

Mom and dad say that Frankie is the loving cat, but I don't love her.  She tries to snuggle up to me on the sofa and I'm really not into the BFF thing with a cat!  It would ruin my image.  

Sure, someone took a picture of all of us napping on the sofa. Let it be noted for the record, that cat is not my BFF!  I will let her sleep near me, but we aren't gonna snuggle and again she is not my BFF!  If Penny agrees to snuggle with her, that's fine with me, but I won't do it!

Our big Sister Jaybo

This is our big sister, Jaybo.  She's about 85 lbs, that's a big girl!  I have to ask my mom to take a better picture of Jaybo, this is the best one I could find on my allotted time on the computer.  Jay is pretty cool.  Usually she and Penny play a lot, and sometimes I jump in and play with them.  Jaybo thinks the same of the cats as I do, we like to chase them.  Penny likes to chase them too, well, she may just chase them cause we do. That Penny isn't very smart, not like Jay and me!  Dad walks Jaybo a mile every night.  Sometimes during the day dad will walk Penny and me.  I love it!   When someone gets my leash out, I go crazy!  I just get beside myself!  Walking is the coolest thing in the world.  Everyone should do it and take their dog along on that walk! 

My Sister Penny

This is my sister Penny, she doesn't look heavy here, but trust me, she is chunky. Don't let the yogurt container fool you, that was just her dessert after her dinner.  Warning, don't go near her when she eats, she has a nasty temper when it comes to food.  People call her an ankle nipper.  Mom says she is one of those, but they still love her.   Penny and I get along well, I do get tired of all the times she wants to play and pulls my ears or bites at my leg, but most the times I'm cool with it!  Speaking of cool, it was darn cold out there today!  How would you like it if you had to go pottie outside with the temperatures 29*?  You would freeze your buns in a hurry!  I do my business and hurry to the door. Sometimes it take Penny forever to find the perfect spot to do her business, meantime I'm freezing out there!   Oh well, I still love my sister Penny!

It Snowed!

 

It snowed last night!  How cool is that? It wasn't too cold on my paws (thank goodness).  It's pretty out there too.  Mom says it won't snow all day and it's supposed to get a lot colder tonight.  I don't like when it's cold.  Mom and I go to see her mom almost every week and mom puts a sweater on me to keep me warm on the trip.  I have a lot of different sweaters.  Jackie, the lady at the desk at Frederick likes to see my outfits, I don't like them but they do keep me warm.  Mom usually takes along the afghan that her mom made me, that's cool, I mean that keeps me warm.  Oh well, I'm headed for my nap.. wait.. do I hear Katie having breakfast?  Maybe I'll make a side trip to the kitchen before I head back up to bed.  Have a good day!  My you find great crumbs on your floor today!  

Relaxing with Jif

I'm really glad that I'm not one of those folks who is allergic to peanutbutter.  Mom finished this jar and gave each of us dogs a chance to get out the leftovers.  After we all had our chance (the big dog couldn't even get the peanutbutter off from the bottom of the jar! "Ha Ha Jaybo".) I took the jar to my favorite window seat and I was just trying to get a few more licks in. Than I'll go back to my nap!

Welcome to my tales!

Hi, My name is Leonard.  I live with humans named, Mom (aka. Luann), Dad (aka Rob) and Katie, my human sister.  I have two dog sisters named Jaybo (she's a big girl) and Penny (she's my size but much heavier than I am!).  We have some of those cats who live at our house, Sam (aka Samantha). She's not very friendly and goes in and out of the house all the time.  We have Frankie, she stays in the house and tries to be my BFF at times. I really don't want to get too friendly with cats and snuggling with Frankie isn't what I want to do even though she tries all the time!   We have three birds.  One is a  dove, she's pretty cool, her name is Cinnamon.  Then we have the big mouth birds, mom says they are sun conures. They are Sandy and Atilla.  At times mom walks around the house with Atilla on her shoulder.  Sandy hangs out in her cage even when the door is open and even when Atilla is on mom's shoulder.

My favorite things to do are play with my toys, go for a walk and sleep under the covers on the human's bed.  Speaking of sleeping under the covers. It's way past my nap time!
